FAQ

  • Do I need a lactation consultant if I'm already breastfeeding?

Even if breastfeeding is going “okay,” a lactation consultant can help prevent problems before they start — like sore nipples, supply dips, or baby weight issues. I can help fine-tune your feeding so it’s easier and more comfortable.

  • What areas of Long Island do you serve?

I offer in-home consultations throughout most of Suffolk and Nassau County. If you’re unsure whether your area is covered, just reach out using the contact form. Travel fees may apply in addition to the consult fees.

  • What if my baby won’t latch during the visit?

That’s totally okay — I’ve seen it all. If your baby is sleepy, fussy, or struggling to latch, I’ll work with you in real time to find techniques and positions that help. No pressure, no judgment — just support.

  • How soon after birth should I book a consultation?

The earlier, the better. Many families reach out within the first few days of coming home. I’ll help you feel more confident and supported from the start of your feeding journey.

  • Do you offer follow-up visits or ongoing support?

Yes! I offer follow-up visits for families who need extra support, as well as text and email check-ins after your consultation. You’re never alone in this — I’ll be here every step of the way.

  • What should I have ready before my consultation?

No need to clean the house or prep anything fancy. Just try to have your baby ready for a feeding around the time I arrive, if possible. I’ll bring everything else we need — this is all about making you feel comfortable and supported in your own space.

  • Do you take Health Insurance?

I am not in network with any insurance plans at this time but I can provide a SuperBill upon request that you can submit to your health insurance if you have out of network benefits.

  • What is an IBCLC?

An IBCLC is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, the highest level of certification for lactation professionals, recognized globally as the "gold standard" for expert breastfeeding and human milk feeding support, involving rigorous education and clinical experience to handle complex cases in diverse settings like hospitals or private practices. They help families with latch, supply, pain, pumping, and special situations, ensuring evidence-based, ethical care.
